A-TOTA-SO × POPTONES, with support from TRUNCHEON and TÜNG

Welcome to the first installment of the PCP end of year showcase!

To kick it all off, we have Nottingham legends A-Tota-So:
a-tota-so are a noisy rock band based in the UK, they write music inspired by grunge, mathrock and post hardcore and love to get guest vocalists to join them live and have worked with 80 different guests so far (and counting)

Also sometimes written as atotaso , it’s kinda like “I told you so” – dumb name, big riffs!

They’ve just released two new belting singles earlier in the year, “Death Rattle” and “Form of Mass”, following their upcoming album release in September “I Told You So”.
You can listen to them here:

POPTONES, are an alt-rock band from Copenhagen, with a mixture of dulcet tones and eerie vocals at times, then into hard hitting noise and distorted vox. It’s like listening to a theatre production of a descent into madness. We’re all here for it. They’re out and about touring with the A-Tota-So lads, so if Marty reckons they’re the dog’s bollocks, then you’re surely in for a good show.

TRUNCHEON
You’ve seen these lads a couple of times now, but as they’re fairly new (and brilliant), it’s only fair to put them on and push them as much as possible. If you want alt-rock/grunge, with a hint of prog, this is the band to see.

We’re expecting an EP out later in the year, so keep your ears peeled for that.

TÜNG
These two chaps are a sight to see, instrumental math-rock, with only banjo and drums, so they’ll fit right in with the roster of bands on for the night.
They’ve just released a three track EP, which you can listen to here:

Juneau – with Gudewife and Tüng Tickets

More information about Juneau – with Gudewife and Tüng tickets

“Scraps of the Final Lights sounds like a post-metal record should sound. Fat riffs, threatening silence and devastating chaos… A bit like a majestic ship that fights against waves that rise like living walls, slowly loses the unequal battle and is inexorably swallowed by the raging and merciless sea.”  Luminous Dash

Juneau are heading over to Manchester for the first time in support of their new album Scraps of the Final Lights. Belgium’s latest heavy-hitters in the post-metal sphere are on course to become firm favourites in the scene and head to the UK following tours of Japan and European.

Having found a home on UK label A Cheery Wave (Overhead the Albatross, Din of Celestial Birds, Civil Service) the band are embarking on a week long jaunt across our fair isle in late April.

Expect it to be loud and live long in the ears and your memories.

They will be joined by Mountainscape, Gudewife and Tung!

Mountainscape join the line up as Co-headliners. The Reading (and adjacent) based post metal act have been scaling new heights since their formative Manchester shows. Having progressed to under headliners at 2024s AKARI festival, they have gone on to perform to large crowds at Portals, Celestial Diadem and are due to perform with French post rock giants Bruit? in May.

Iridescent featured on a number of ‘best of’ lists and the promise of new music is growing ever closer from the powerful post metal trio.

Güdewife hail from Cheshire but are already beginning to make inroads into the Manchester scene, having opened for Alpha Male Tea Party at Star and Garter last October.
Their debut In Liminal Space is a wonderful genre-jumping instrumental whirlwind and sets them up for a strong follow-up, whenever they’re ready! Their first time at Aatma promises to be a special one.

Tüng are making their live debut! – But rest assured, you’re about to witness something extraordinary. The new Manchester-based banjo-led math rock duo features an ex-member of Young Devils, Hail Brethren and Run Like Hell. They have set their stall out for fans of Old Pine, andy, Glenn & Rich, plus Bluegrass – but I think you’ll agree upon first listen, they’re utterly unique and completely captivating.
