Featuring

Witch of the East
Witch of the East is the new solo project from ex Chambers vocalist, guitarist and producer Aeris Houlihan. Aeris and her new live band releases their brand new concept album on the 5th of July 2019, on I’m not from London Records. Queen of Insecurity draws on the orgasmic din of Witchy, Grunge horror. A beautifully dark concept album that touches on industrial rock, grunge and dark pop. This combination is sure to terrify people. Aeris is a frontwoman who blatantly was born to be in the spotlight with lyric imagery rivalling that of the best horror movies. We’re so grateful that Witch of the East make their Manchester debut with us.

For fans of: Chambers, Marylin Manson, L7, Hole, Bikni Kill, Arthur Brown, Soundgarden, The Melvins.

DEH-YEY
Deh- YEY from Chester are guitarist and vocalist Cash Burns and drummer Tom Maude. The grunge 2 piece formed in 2016, they have a furious sound filled with grit, distortion, dark guitar riffs and animated drums. DEH- YEY have released two singles entitled ‘Speedy Quickedge’ and ‘Death and Politics.’ These tracks blew our minds, we can’t wait to hear what they release next. DEH- YEY recently opened for for Deja Vaga’s sold out gig at the Castle. Even the Stars said ‘Cash’s lead vocals fight to be heard against the wall of noise that his guitar and Tom’s drums create. There’s much more to them though than loud noise even as they test The Castle’s sturdy sound system to the max, there’s an angry energy in the vocals that does as much to propel the songs headlong to their conclusions and there’s moments where they stop dead in their tracks and then change direction carrying us with them.’

For fans of: The White Stripes, Drenge, Wet Nuns, Queens of the Stone Age, Gary Clark Jr, Blood Red Shoes, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

Locean
Locean was formed by Lauren Bolger in 2013 as one way of carving her own restrictions to place over her award-winning poetry. Locean has seen some of the most celebrated experimental musicians in the Manchester scene join their ranks to respond instantaneously to Bolger’s stream of consciousness. It’s why the performances since their inception have remained totally and uncompromisingly improvised. Veering from angular no-wave guitar assaults, repetitive kraut-rock grooves, abrasive free-jazz and far out dub, the only consistency in the groups sound is the unpredictability of the music Bolger commands of the players she carefully selects to respond to her voice. It’s a method of working that has made their live shows undeniably captivating, unsettling, abrasive and hugely influential in the Manchester experimental scene.

For fans of: Sonic Youth, Gnod, Bongwater , Josey Jones, Bardo Pond, Spacemen 3, Teenage Jesus, The Birthday Party.

SlowHandClap
SLOWHANDCLAP are a Manchester based post punk 3 piece consisting of Sam Bullock who plays guitar and provides vocals, Dan Coleman who plays bass and drummer Michael Duckworth. The group have dropped a number of brilliant singles since their inception, including anthems such as ‘Vertigo’, ‘Apathy’ and ‘Concreate Bodies’ just to name a few. The group have worked tirelessly over the years by touring and really mastering their craft in the process. The band recently sold out The Castle for their own headline show and recently played with Kagoule in Manchester.

For fans of: Dinosaur Jr, Nirvana, Gang of Four, Sonic Youth, Preoccupations, METZ, Fugazi, Butthole Surfers.

QUEASY
Queasy are a Manchester punk funk 4 piece, which have been spreading their volatile blend of funk rock to the masses, since striking onto on the Manchester scene in 2014. Their music fills the void between the mosh pit and the dance floor with infectious and unforgiving, distortion drenched grooves. Having shared the stage with the likes of Idles, Hands Off Gretel, Avalanche Party, Bloody Knees and Ask My Bull, Queasy’s reputation as high octane party starters has led them to play some at many renowned venues and festivals across the UK. If you like your music to be fast, fiery and dark, with great vocals, lashings of funk guitar and tight rhythms, you won’t go far wrong with this.

For fans of: Rage Against the Machine, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Gang Of Four, Faith No More, The Rapture, A Certain Ratio, APB, Primus

Manalishi
Manalishi consist of lead vocalist/guitarist Dom Strett, bassist Josh Urpi, and drummer Luke Moloney; they concentrate on their music leaving your ears ringing, and a persistent scratchy feeling in the back of your throat. With a crunching fusion of grungey, noisy, alternative rock; and a disillusion for the conventional, they merge captivating melodies with a rib-punching wall of sound and melancholic chords, complete with unpolished, squealing guitars, and the disgusting scars to prove it. “Manalishi’s self-titled EP is a bloodthirsty collection of grunge soaked alternative rock designed to pummel your brain and get those mosh pits in a frenzy. With an onslaught of battering drums and gritty, scuzzy guitars crashing and shattering against one another, Manalishi’s Self Titled EP is an intense collection of tracks.

For fans of: Nirvana, Screaming Trees, Kyuss, Pixies
