Mutualism Presents: Akash
April 19 @ 10:00 pm - April 20 @ 3:00 am
Akash [Sin City]
Akash first came to our attention after releasing a string of unbelievable edits that layer R&B classics with anything and everything across the spectrum of UK club music. The likes of AGAR TUM MIL JAO 91 / REZZETTx67 / ICY LAKE 91 are surely classics by now.
Since then we’ve been hooked on every mix and lucky enough to catch Akash’s DJ sets at Tate Lates and more recently at Wharf Chambers for Season in Leeds.
As well as putting in frequent sessions on NTS Radio and Half Moon Radio, Akash is a member of London’s SIN CITY, INT’L collective who have hosted the likes of Organ Tapes, Fauzia and Bake.
After seeing DJ Dread.D – Invade mixed into Bloc Party – Banquet for Leeds’ Season in January we can assure you this is going to be unreal: https://bit.ly/2Wc76mw
aamin has been one of our collective favourites for the past couple of years now. We’ve had the pleasure of hosting aamin alongside the likes of Air Max ’97 Music, LOFT and Don Sinini as well as hosting nefarious b2b’s w/ TAYSTII. As a curator aamin has hosted DJ Plead’s London debut and released mixes from Intentionally Cold and New Scenery via the incredible ‘exposed’ series: https://aamin.exposed/
Expect pop mashups, club blends, techno belters and Cher… its pretty much impossible for us to word aamin’s sound so you should just go and listen for yourself: https://bit.ly/2uj4Pdk
Manchester local ZALEEL masterfully blends together a plethora of pop, rap and grime instrumentals with the likes of 808 state, Bok Bok and Kingdom to create some of the most scintillating edits we’ve had the pleasure of listening to – recently uploading a 25 track zip of edits, bootlegs, refixes and blends made between 2011-2018 entitled ‘junk’ which you can grab here https://bit.ly/2ufnE0U
With mixes hosted by the likes of Manara, CLUB CHAI, Tobago Tracks and Strange Riddims we’re certain ZALEEL’s versatility on the decks will keep you moving.
Here’s one of our all time faves – ZALEEL in the mix for Manara’s BBC Asian Network residency: https://soundcloud.com/zaleel/zaleel-4-bbc-asian-network
Clemency [Mutualism/Limbo Radio]
Representing us on the night we have our very own Clemency – DJ. Hailing from her home town of Sheffield, Clemency joined us in 2018 and has not stopped killing dance floors since!
Clemency’s monthly slot on Limbo Radio explores a cross section of noise and club music, listen to the most recent installment here [Inside]: https://soundcloud.com/clemencydj/clemency-on-limbo-radio-5-inside
Following on from infamous recent b2b’s with Hesska and soon to be releasing a debut production ‘SSRI Season / Sleep-In Sickness’ via Leeds label Leftovers – which already has the support of such legends as object blue and India Jordan – we’re delighted to get Clemency back behind the decks at Aatma.
